Wales Men Progress in European Championships 2012

Three sound wins for Wales in their first three group matches augurs well for the
knock out stages of the European Championships in Amsterdam. A commanding
win 17-0 against France was followed by further wins against Norway 12-3 and
Slovakia 12-6. The last group match on Monday 25 June is against Israel, also
unbeaten so far in the tournament.

L’Association Française de Lacrosse have just announced that the try outs for the French National Lacrosse Team will be held in Suresnes on the weekend of 3rd/4th September.

The team selected at the Suresnes try out will go on to represent France at next year’s European Lacrosse Championships in Amsterdam.

France first competed on the international lacrosse stage in 2009 at the Celtic Cup in Edinburgh finishing 4th. The team went on to compete at the World Lacrosse Championships 2010 in Manchester finishing 0 – 3 in the Turquoise division. They suffered a defeat against Austria before getting their first World Cup win with a 10 – 6 victory over Mexico in the post group stages.

Following their victory over Mexico, they suffered a narrow defeat against Denmark, eventually closing out their tournament with a win against Argentina.
France will look to improve on their 2 – 5 record with their European Lacrosse Championships campaign in 2012.

 

 

France’s premier box lacrosse tournament will take place on November 12th of this year. It will be the third time that box lacrosse has taken centre stage in Lille. The box lacrosse tournament has proven to be a huge success being played across two days, eight teams will compete for the trophy.

The tournament follows a simple format, with a round-robin on Saturday followed by a series of knock-out games on Sunday.

Last year two French, two Belgian, three Dutch teams and one ‘pick-up’ team battled for the title, with the home team, Lille Spartiates, beating Tillburg Titans in the the final with an overtime goal, running out 5-4 victors.

Registration has opened, and play will start at 8am on the 12th of November.
